Y Suites Waymouth Street

Comprising 813 beds, Y Suites Waymouth Street student accommodation is the largest student accommodation facility in South Australia. The superstructure consists of load-bearing precast panels, in-situ concrete core combined with BubbleDeck suspended slabs on columns, providing the building’s overall structural integrity. Strategically incorporating BubbleDeck technology reduced costs, accelerated construction and improved sustainability.

A focused approach to the design and procurement of the facade glazing ensured windows could be pre-installed within the structural facade precast panels off site. This procurement strategy not only increased safety and quality assurance but was a critical element ensuring a level of comfort and risk mitigation was provided enabling the aggressive construction program to be achieved.

The ground floor shop front glazing was designed to complement the exposed high set ceilings while also delivering an impressive aesthetic from the Waymouth streetscape.

Constructed in just 19 months, SYNERGY CONSTRUCT achieved Practical Completion 2.5 months ahead of contract program.

SYNERGY CONSTRUCT was awarded a high commendation in the South Australian 2021 AIB Professional Excellence in Building Awards – Commercial Construction – $60 million plus category for the work completed on Y Suites project.
